I try my best.

And that glass goes dark for privacy at the flick of a switch, and it's self cleaning.

We live in a log home in Nova Scotia..

Built by these guys.

Dow & Duggan Log Homes International - Home

We didn't build it but we've lived in it for 2 1/2 years..

A friend of mine has a Huf House in Dulwich...

I wonder at how a Huf House would work in the depths of a Canadian winter? They do look very swish though.

They say it copes with the coldest of winters but to be sure they could build one for me to test drive.

Me too.

We built our own house in the UK, but all the time we were doing this, I was secretly wishing our budget was more - a Huf-Haus was my real dream!

Saw one on grand designs a few years ago, it did look pretty good. They had it delivered and built in days.

Could anyone provide an approximate cost of building a small 2 or 3 bed log home from start to finish? I am just looking for an example if possible. Thanks.

Me too. I saw a program showing one of them being built and it looked great.

the log house sounds great though. Good luck in making that happen

Stunning. I saw that Grand Designs too (my favourite dreamy show)

To the OP:
Be careful that you don't invest a whack of cash in a log home in NS, where you may not get your money back on resale.
There was one for sale for years just north of Fall River (nothing wrong with it), it just had a really limited resale market.

they are fantastic. There is a viewing village near Frankfurt built entirely of Huf houses and other similar houses, all done the same way, but all are different styles, from Log houses to more traditional looking homes to the typical Huf Haus. We spent a day there when we were still in Germany and loved it. I would still love to build one if I win the lotto. Also, they have extremely high building codes in Germany for new-builds(hectic insulation - stunning, you have to see it to believe it, triple glazing and so on), so I can't imagine that they would not cope well with Canadian winters.
