Building Game

Can someone tell me how good or bad the Construction Business is at the moment in BC and is expected to be in any forecasts etc.

I have been told that it is booming and that there is not enough people to do the work, don't know how true or not this is.

Cheers

Hi

Here in the Okanagan it is booming and I too have heard that there are not enough people to do the work.....well enough that show up and do a good job!

My neighbor who has retired has taken on unexpectedly a second career working in the construction industry. He constantly turns down work and has never had to advertise. He does all jobs - tiling, painting, mudding etc etc and charges himself out at $25 an hour.

Hi,

From my understanding Canadian QS practices are not interested until you have obtained a valid working permit.

I've been told that since QSing is not taught as a degree in Canada most of the workforce is made up of foreigners, ie Brits, Ozzies and South Africans and hence on the look out for suitably qualifed staff.

Have you at this stage put in your application for Permanent Residence?

Cheers

No not yet, I am currently 2nd in command of a building company in glasgopw and would really like to stay contracting. I just wanted to see what my options were, thanks.
