10/18/01 -- 10/19/01 --11/30/01--pending--pending.

Friends i have a question though if anybody here or the lawyers can help me with.

I had applied to Canadian Immigration last year with a valid Student visa but now my visa status has just changed to H1.

I am not sure if i should send them a copy of my approval letter now as it might delay the process.

Do you think this could prove negative in my case as my earlier visa has expired in US.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ltrun,
It looks like they ask for the current VISA status when you receive assessment & medicals with waiver OR at the last stage with interview. You may delay sending your current H1B status till that period but if you wish to update them with your new H1B status you can always do it. It can not delay the processing of your application any way at this stage.

Thanks for the info Raghu.

From some posting that i saw it seems like everybody has to do FBI fingerprinting and police certificates after assessment even though it has been done earlier at the time of application.

Do you think it would save me some time to atleast send finger prints to FBI as they might take some time to be approved too. This ofcourse being a presumption that my file will not be rejected

Also is there any fees that has to paid to the Canadian Immigration office at the time of assessment/medical.

My time line:

Applied 10/19/01
AOR: 11/30/01
after that decision pending

From posts in this forum it looks things are getting faster and closer to my application dates.

Thanks

Hi Tarun,
I think its best to wait. The FBI Card is valid for 6 months from it's issue date. So there is no need to worry at this stage. I got FBI card 2 times & i got it back from them in exactly 18-21 days including mail time. 20 days is sufficient time for you to get other documents (w2, Employer letter, Bank Letter Etc) and scheduling & giving the Medical test at DMP near you.I always thought it would be a better idea to see that the medical Docs & any extra requested Docs to reach RPC almost at the same time, So they can update the file at the same time rather than updating at different times. This may give you an edge when an Officer looks for complete Files at the last stage to make a final decision.
Thanks

Tarun
You have to pay the RPRF(Right Of Permament residency Fee) That they will clearly mention in the docs you receive.
I already paid at the time of application. Its around US$500 or 550, you better check.
