Broadband is widely available throughout Alberta. You will be able to choose between cable and DSL. Your providers will be either telus (www.telus.com) if you want DSL or Shaw (www.shaw.ca) if you want cable. The price will depend on what you want, but a standard connection will cost about $40 (~£20) a month. Check out those web sites for the specs and different packages.

I do not live in Alberta, but generally your choices are between the main phone company and the main cable company.

Both will offer you bundles - so in the case of the cable company they will discount your broadband if you take a particular bundle of TV stations (we have one that includes digital cable so we get stations like BBC World and BBC Canada. The whole thing costs us about $75 - about 30 quid - a month.)

Although Britain is getting a lot more competitive now, from what I hear the rates here are still generally cheaper here than Britain.

oh, forgot to mention. I use Telus DSL because they had a special deal on at the time. But from what I've heard they're all pretty much the same.

It's not just the price, the service is better too. You cannot get a broadband connection in Alberta as slow at BT's fastest connection.

The packages in Alberta start at 1.5mb; BT's fastest is 1mb.
