Broad Band Connection

After making ourselves such a nuisance with BT we eventually got ourselves on broadband last year and the four of us sit in our respective rooms surfing the net. Now we wonder how on earth we managed with only the one connection and each queuing up to do their own bit of research.

We shall be very sad if we were to loose our broadband access when we move to Canada so can anyone tell me if the Bragg Creek, Priddis, Plummers Road (off the 22/762 south of Priddis) has broadband access?? (on the other hand lack of a connection might be the best thing to happen and then we might all start doing things together!!!)

Perhaps this should belong in 'The Lab' forum.
Even if fixed broadband is not available in your area you will be able to get Satellite broadband. You just need a clear view of the southern sky. I have friends in BC who have satellite broadband as they live in a remote location, they use this for their home phone too (VOIP).

Doesn't satellite send upstream via the phone line? That would be a killer for me :scared:

OP, check here - http://canadianisp.ca/cgi-bin/ispsearch.cgi?sp=AB

Great link! I'm keeping it to myself though - if Mr B realises he can have broadband in the sticks, he'll be dragging me off there ;)

Re: Broad Band Connection

It depends on how much your prepared to pay for broadband.
It starts at $60 a month with a $400 equipment outlay.
Also bear in mind you can use it for voice too, having a telephone line run to a remote location can be costly.

The only broadband operator here right now is Davinci. $80per month plus $400 to be set up.
Our neighbours have it and they have not had a signal in 5wks!!!
Take a look at the Bragg Creek web site, there is lots of techy info there that might help you.

Thanks for your help. Presumably we will have to end up with satellite broadband? :)
