I tried uknova for a while but got fed up of all the downloading, I also tried proxies but this was so unreliable. In the end I just got myself a UK VPN which gives me a UK IP address. Got mine from here:
http://pc-streaming.com/store/ Now I can watch BBC, ITV, etc live by using Zattoo (Google it) and tvcatchup. Hooked up my PC to the telly with a video out cable. Really is worth the investment. |

Have you never used Newsgroups instead of torrents? You download directly from a server, usually at your full download speed, and don't have to worry about share ratios. Some ISP give you newsgroup access free, but if not there are some good services at about $15 US per month. You can search what is available by using a site like this: http://v3.newzbin.com/ |

mmmmm uk nova been there for a couple of years now and no problems with my downloads ratio. i usually only ever download dr who which is pretty popular so iam certain to upload more than i download.
usually i leave my pc on constantly just uploading the program ive just downloaded. it helps if your uploading (seeding) a show which is popular as youll end up uploading as much as youve downloaded if not more. also try changing the settings in your torrent cleint. you can change the amount it will upload. for instance you can set it so that it only uploads as much as it downloads which should keep your ratio where it is. or you can set it to upload and unlimited amount which will help more, which is what i do. |

Here's what I do for media streaming at home: I bought 2 Xboxes for about £10 each back in the UK. I modded them with XBMC, turned them to NTSC and multi voltage. Here, I have a network hard drive plugged to the router which is accessible to any device connected to my network ie PS3/Xboxes/Xbox360/Archos/Laptop/PC. All the stuff are downloaded automatically to the network drive. I don't use wireless as it's not 100% secure and doesn't provide reliable constant bandwidth. Instead I use electricity to carry the bandwidth across the house. It's something I used in the UK and I brought my devices over and they sure work here in Canada. You can also stream iplayer on the PS3 once you've set a uk proxy server on the router or on your pc if your ps3 is getting internet from it. |

The last ISP I had with a half-decent 'free' Usenet feed was Clara in the UK, and theirs was a premium service to begin with. Torrents still have the edge for anything at all obscure. |
