Re: British driving licence
Plus to get a GB license again (no such thing as a UK license, just like no such thing as a Canadian license) you need a UK address at which you are resident. Since you're not resident, and your GB license always has to have your resident address, it won't work. If you manage it you're license could easily be rendered invalid due to it containing fraudulent information.
You voluntarily gave up your GB license and voluntarily gave up your right to ride a motorcycle and are no longer entitled to legally do so. To get the motorcycle license you need to sit your test over here.

Re: British driving licence
I did ask a few years ago in Lethbridge at the Driving Agency, who then put me onto the college where they do training.
They told me I would have to take a course that lasted 3 weeks then take test. I couldn't take that time off work.
I then read somewhere else if you hold a Class 1 licence you only have to do the playground test, but don't know if that's right or no.

Been here 24 years and still hold both a valid UK/EU and valid Can drivers licence.... I don't think I'm going to surrender the UK one while they keep giving it to me...

Re: British driving licence
You are incorrect ... The address is my UK address that is correct and valid ... they mail it there and I use the license every time I go back to the UK and drive...if it wasn't a current address how would I receive the license ? ... I will never give up or surrendered anything I'm entitled to according to the UK licence requirements ....

You do have to be resident for the licence to be valid...so yours is currently a useless piece of plastic

Re: British driving licence
No licence, insurance not valid. Could be expensive.

And don't you have to tick a box when you renew your license to confirm you're a UK resident?

Re: British driving licence
Out of curiosity I've just been looking at the DVLA website regarding driving licences. One of the stipulations is that you must be a resident of the United Kingdom. I'm pretty sure this doesn't just mean having a postal address in the UK. It also requires you to give your residential addresses for the previous 3 years. If I gave this information - even if I still owned property in the UK - it would show I had, and do, reside in Canada. I would have thought that would make any attempts to acquire a UK licence a misrepresentation and, therefore, potentially fraud.
If you live in one particular country, why would you want a driving licence from another one? To what end?
