I want to move back to Canada and bring my child. I am Canadian born and my child now has a canadian citizenship card.
Does anyone know if the Canadian government insists that children be vaccinated or prove they are vaccinated before entering Canada?
What about school? Do kids in Canada need vaccinated?
thanks in advance

Prevention is better than cure! I would, just from a health side of things, regardless of the Canadian laws.

Hi. Does anyone know if vaccinations are mandatory or can parents opt out for their kids? i.e. sign a waiver.
Do schools adminsiter vaccinations or are they done only in health centres.
thanks

Whether it's mandatory depends on province and school board within that province. Some vaccinations are done at school (I remember getting hepatitis b in grade 7) and others you have to have done at your doctor's office.

There are a couple of useful immunization scheduling tools here:

Just bring vaccination records with you. Once you find a doctor, your child will be brought up to date if necessary.

My kids are in the French system, in Quebec, and it's not mandatory. In fact, they were pushing a free gardasil (?) jab, and had an uptake of less than 10%. Cost the taxpayers (us) a fortune and they were last heard of trying to sell the masses of unused vaccine back to the manufacturer! Rumours abound that an official who dreamt up this "service" was a shareholder in the vaccine company!
Just a rumour though....

It probably was worth it Zoe. Why on earth would a parent not have their children vaccinated? Only the nutjobs do that.

Yep I agree with Scootb, vaccinations are vital, prevention better than cure like I said earlier. Just think you're breathing in recirculated air on a plane, that's just for starters! A friend of mine had German Measles on the plane, didn't know it, got to Toronto customs where they flew her straight back home. No holiday! Can't blame them for doing it, protecting their own. Shame the UK doesn't have the same attitude.
