I had to get mine orally inflated last night as well. I think it has a fast puncture though, I tried hockey tape and Duct tape on it but it still keeps going down.

Epoxy Cement might do the job..........I'm off to Crappy Tire to get some as my pool sprung a leak, would you like me to pick you up 'small' repair kit?

Hi my name is Midge, my wife Val and I currently live in England. Val is a serving officer in the British Army and has recently learned of a possible posting opportunity to Ontario so I joined the forum to get some idea of what to expect and have been reading the threads with interest.
However as we have a 3 year old rescue dog I thought I had better make some enquiries with regard to her. Gypsy is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and is very much part of our family (we have no kids) and of course we would wish to take her with us to Canada, but I have been alarmed to read of Breed Specific Legislation banning "Pit Bull Types" in Ontario. That is to say restricting them in maintaining that they must be speyed or neutered, wearing of muzzles etc. It also states that no new "stock" may be imported?
Gypsy was already speyed when we adopted her from the rescue society, we never had any intention to breed her, she is just a much loved family pet.
It would be devastating to find that we could not continue our dream to live, work and eventually settle in Canada because we are dog lovers.
Am I reading this correctly? Does new stock mean new breeding stock
or does it apply to any living, breathing Staffordshire Bull Terrier, regardless of it's ability to breed? If so are there any other provinces which do not have such a blinkered view of this breed? any advice or information gratefully received:fingerscrossed:

Hi Midge, I can only speak for Calgary and their is no breed specific bans here. The only rule I'm aware of is the City of Calgary Animal Services will not adopt out a Pitt Bull as part of their pet adoption scheme. I believe most of these dogs go to Pitt Bull rescue. The only rules you have are the dog must be registered and licenced with the city within 48 hours of arrival. This can be done by simply calling 311 or attending the Animal Services building in Portland Street SE Calgary.

And ALL dogs must be kept on a lead except in one of the few designated dog walking areas..........still you see irresponsible funkwits walking their dog's of the lead in the parks :frown:

Are you sure Sam? I thought I'd seen one advertised as a pit-bull type last time I was in registering my 27 Tosa\rottie\akita crosses.

BC is not a free for all for pitbulls (happily) many strata/condo developments pass bylaws that make pitbulls unwelcome. Someone I know just bought a townhouse which is part of a development with a no-pitbull rule. They are wondering if they will have to sell. Also some cities may have breed specific bylaws.

Thanks Sam (and Brownstar) for the view from Calgary, hadn't really considered Alberta (Yet!) I was over there for a few months in the late 80's with the British Army (Suffield), I really enjoyed it especially Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper but not sure if it would have any opportunities for work for either of us, we both have degrees but mine is in Archaeology which is hardly going to have people falling over themselves to offer me a job I'm guessing? My wife though still serving as a Major in the Army she has reached the point where she has qualified for immediate pension and so could leave fairly soon. She specialises in Education, training and project management, and has a Masters degree in applied Linguistics (she's also fluent in Russian) so it seems likely that she is holding the key cards.
This has been a big kick in the nether regions as far as our Ontario dream goes but we'll just have to try and broaden our horizons and see what the chances are? As we will both be on full military pensions this time next year we would be able to support ourselves quite well until something came up.
Will have a look at BC and Alberta

ERM, excuse me.
a) Alberta is BIG in oil
b) Russia is (afaik) one of the fastest growing oil exploration countries in the world

ergo there may JUST be opportunities for your missus
