Bicycle Helmets worth shipping?

Hi Everyone,

I have googled and not really found anything of any substance. Would use of bicycle helmets purchased in UK/Europe cause an issue in Canada?

Unfortunately our bikes got stolen so they are not being shipped, however we would like to get bikes in Canada and wondered if it was worth shipping the helmets?

Thanks

Mike

Mike, as an aside, what shipping company are you using?

I'm using GB Liners, not the cheapest and not the most expensive. But they did reduce their quote and reduce the insurance cost and I went with gut feeling. Time will tell if all goes to plan ;)

Obviously being Canadian we like to impose standards on cycle helmets when being used over here. Is falling off your bike in the UK any different to falling off it over here or getting hit by a car at 50 kmh or 30 mph?
I can't say I have heard of any insurance claims being disallowed because of a cycle helmet not meeting CSA standards.
Not all Provinces have mandatory helmet laws.
My feeling is if it protects your head then bring it if going to be cycling.

Thanks FL I kind of assumed it was ok, but there had been recent threads on child seats etc needing to be CSA approved etc and I thought it best to double check. As usual FL you have been very helpful ;)

Mikey

Do I recall you previously applied through another route or is my brain addled?

Good to know you are making progress on the LMO front anyway:thumbup:

We just shipped ours without a second thought. I'm sure they'll save your noggin as well as any other biking helmet.

I dragged everything together for the FSW and then it kept getting paused. So then one employer offered a role and I was planning to go through BC PNP. That fell through and then I went out met employers and now being put through LMO and TWP by the second firm. In the meantime I had my stuff ready for FSW in May and then the list did not have my job on. So its been a long process so far but hopefully soon I will be buying you a pint in Vancouver or in Sooke if i get the boat over :)

I was thinking it would not be an issue and then I though we are going groupage and trying to do this as cheaply as possible so is it worth taking up space for something we can not use. Just me overthinking I suppose ;)
