Best steak I ever had was at Webbers in Chicago.

For Toronto I'd recommend Ruth Chris' Steak House (by the Hilton hotel, downtown) or The Keg on York St - always does an excellent, off the menu, rib-eye steak. Have been to The Keg about 30 times and have had a dud steak just once - 29/30 ain't bad!

I'm not really - but I did once eat in massive veggie buffet in Quebec where you paid by the weight of food.

If you like that place try Allen's on the Danforth. Much the same vibe. Much the same food. I have mixed feelings on Allen's but loved the Cafe Brussel across the road, gone now of course, but that was a place with style and quality food - why it was in Toronto is a bit lost on me.

Thanks for the info, however,I travel to Toronto very infrequently and only if absolutely necessary...so that particular hostelry may have to wait awhile.

I remember the Allen's somewhere west of the Royal Alex area back about 1985/1986. It was a great place to spend $$ on, at the time, obscure beers otherwise unavailable in Canada. (i.e Chimay, Old Peculier). The Allen's on the Danforth was more of a restaurant. Cafe Brussels was also nice with glasses to match the beer you had ordered. Great food there.

Allen's is a fun after work place.

They also have a very good burger which has to be ordered 'off menu'

I've never stayed there long enough to hear the muzak. Which is lucky if I'm reading your post correctly.

I've only been there for business dinners. Which are not something I really care to stay at for long. As soon as the ink's dry and all that.
