Best place for Carpentry work
Hi there,
My husband is looking into a move to Canada for carpentry work. We're unsure of where to even start. We need recommendations for places to live etc. we quite like lively. We currently love on the south coast of England, with a big town, beach but also countryside. We have a 3yr old son too. Can anyone help with even just a few places that would fit this and also carpentry work? Thanks Ju |

Hi, and welcome to BE.
You might need to be a bit more specific, Canada's such a huge place. Do you want a city/town/rural, what kind of climate, do you want to ski, what kind of budget will you have for housing, etc? Will your husband need a job offer for a visa? If so, you may not get that much of a choice in the location and just have to go where the work is. Good luck with it all. |

Re: Best place for Carpentry work
Aw thanks for the replies, I'm thinking he will probably need a job offer. From researching it appears that Calgary & Edmonton are crying out for carpenters. I think maybe I need to research these towns more!
Christmasoompa - I was kind of hoping there'd be somewhere with a bit of all of that  I'd like a city/town but within about 10miles of ruralness if we wanted it. It's so hard isn't it. We just don't even know where to start. Would you suggest obtaining a job offer first? |
Re: Best place for Carpentry work
Unless you are unemployed in the UK IMHO I wouldnt even consider coming to Canada without a job guaranteed unless you have lots of money.
Look at the wiki at the top of the page Canada section and read job hunting section etc etc. Also look at that bulletin re qualifications etc and how to obtain them. |
Re: Best place for Carpentry work
Hubby is currently working on reflection i don't think we would come without a job offer. Too risky, especially with a youngster.

Do plenty of research and checkout the wiki link above its full of good info. All the best with your plans. |
