Hi,
I will move from the UK to the province of Quebec and I would like to open an online bank account that offer the following (basically something very similar to Starling in the UK):
- no monthly fees just to keep the account open
- no cash ATM withdrawal fees
- no debit/credit card monthly/annual fees
- no debit/credit card transaction fees
- no direct debit fees
- fee-free spending abroad
- fee-free cash ATM withdrawal abroad
- online cheque deposits
Does it exist in Quebec a bank like this? Ideally brick and mortar, but online only would be fine too as long as they have good customer service.

Banking in the UK is different from every other country that I know of, in that while it is relatively easy to have a bank account in the UK with all the bells and whistles and never pay any fees or charges, everywhere else has all sorts of charges, often including a monthly flat fee just for having the account, at least unless you keep a fairly high balance, or use other bank services (which the bank can profit from), such as a mortgage or stockbroking account.

Or you reach "old age" ....... BofM for one has Seniors' Accounts with no charges, and several accounts can be linked to the main one, and still not charged. We have a total of 6 accounts, including one that has our daughter as a 3rd name, no charges for anything on any of them.
Of course you can add bells and whistles, but if you just want a plain and simple account, with unlimited checks or draws, the Seniors' Account is fine. Glad we reach that plateau

We also have a no charge BofM M/C, and I have a no charge Visa card that I took out many years ago from another bank when I had an account there.
