Bedding/Towels
I usually order bedding and towels from the White Company* but wondering if anyone rates either Debenhams, Selfridges or John Lewis for quality bedding and towels.
Thx. *not the other one I am having problems with |

I don't know that I "usually order" bedding and towels from anywhere. On the infrequent occasions when sheets or towels wear out and need replacing, a local branch of The Bay or one of the many specialist emporia typically suffices. What do you do with them that you need to have a habitual supplier?

Re: Bedding/Towels
If you are buying stuff from the UK for use in Canada, don't. As JonboyE has said, beds are different sizes here. Flat sheets probably are close enough, but you'll have problems with fitted sheets.
If you are looking for the UK, though, I highly recommend John Lewis Pima Cotton sheets, the 430 thread count ones - http://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-...4?colour=White. They are really "crisp", wash well, and are almost cool to the touch while still being soft. They're great. If you're looking in Canada, Husband and I have these: Towels: http://www.thebay.com/webapp/wcs/sto...wel-collection Sheets: http://www.thebay.com/webapp/wcs/sto...leat-sheet-set |
Re: Bedding/Towels
Bedding : see above advice re bed sizes.
Towels: I have four John Lewis towels purchased circa 1966-67, which are still in circulation (beach/cottage use) today. I'm a bit snobby about towels: have tended over the years to import - with Mother Dearest's help - "bath sheets" from UK. John Lewis features highly in my collection. The White Company features highly in our UK property. SB |
Re: Bedding/Towels
Usually just find a patch of long grass and lie down there. Ideally near a tree. :)

Re: Bedding/Towels
Corner of the room to other corner for maximum coverage. No need for towels.

Re: Bedding/Towels
I too am a stranger to the word 'usually' in conjunction with the purchase of household linen. The linen on our bed right now was purchased in 1997. It is Sanderson, but when I buy quality I expect it to last.

Re: Bedding/Towels
We have a UK bed so I am stocking up. Thanks for the heads up on the different sizes, I will moderate my purchases. Agree that quality should last.

That's a very, very weird question. Don't you have anything more important to worry about?
Joking apart : huge life changes such as emigration, with overwhelming to-do lists, sometimes bring us to contemplation of irrelevant & trivial details. (I remember being very blasé about some of the big stuff, while tearing my hair out over such details as availability of certain brands of nappies & detergent... ;)!) SB |
