BC or NS ??
 

Living happily in AB for the past 6 years,informed two weeks ago that my job is being reviewed as part of a company managerial reorganization.My role is going to change and I am welcome to reapply for my position in Sept.For what it's worth this is definately a good thing for this organization.The situation has presented me and my family the opportunity to look at our options.We are seriously considering relocating to another province.BC and NS appeal to us,we have good friends in both these provinces.Does anyone have any suggestions on things to

NS is closer to the UK though :lol:
Both provinces offer different things though BC has NS beat in the mountain department. General cost of living is pretty much the same though house prices generally in BC will be higher.
Are we talking of relocating to a major city i.e Vancouver V Halifax?
Will your wage be the same in either location? If so Halifax would be cheaper than Vancouver.

Is that a UK crystal ball or a Canadian one as there might be differences in the way they operate.
The UK crystal ball cannot work in Canada without a work permit. It might also work on a different frequency like electrical items do.
I dont believe the UK crystal ball needs to meet Red Seal certification.
The UK one might need to learn French if being used in Quebec.

We moved from AB to NS two years ago, but we've decided to move back again.

NS is simply too small for us, and too expensive. There's not enough to do, and the taxes are crippling us.

A significant number of expat families we know here are moving soon or have already moved Provinces.

Thanks all for your honest replies.Jobs in my specialty of nursing do not come up very often it has taken me years to get back into the one I am most passionate about.They come up in BC rarely and NS quite often.We moved from Calgary to a smaller community Medicine Hat in the hopes of a better family lifestyle it has given us that,nursing jobs do not come up that often,let alone in my specialty that was the chance we took.I kinda thought that my job was a more longer term move.Another option we are considering is returning to Calgary.That would work out well for us financially.:confused:

Just out of interest what wasn't there enough of? I'm planning on living in NS next year with a IEC visa and this issue about it being a boring province, at least when compared to vancouver, is everywhere.

Coupled with the lower unemployment rate in vancouver i'm really starting to think that although my heart is saying NS my head is moving to BC.

Dont get me wrong, there's some beautiful scenery here- Peggys Cove, etc, but there's equally beautiful scenery in most Provinces.

My kids are getting to the age where they're wanting to go to concerts etc (Bieber, Taylor Swift, One Direction) but those kind of acts dont come here.
There are no major sports events- at least Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, etc have NFL, NBA, MLS teams

Restaurant selection is abysmally poor. There is some decent quality food to be had, but not much of it.

The main museum in Halifax is a joke- it's biggest attraction is a 100 year old tortoise who is let out for a stroll around the musuem once a day.

In own personal opinion, NS is a great place to visit for a week or so. However, the only people who seem to WANT to live here are people who were born here and don't know better.
