For years canadians have been able to travel to the US on just a drivers licence. I suppose this was just done so they can continue. I don't really see the point - why not just get a passport instead?

As for mandatory ID cards - can't see that happening here any time soon....

Canadians rarely leave North America.

really? thought it has been 'being talked about for ages'...even been 'talk' about a 'wall being built along the boarder!!!' for a while now!

my OH works for an american owned company, who has many offices in canada but trying to cross the boarder to do business in the USA is sometimes impossible!!!!

I have one in my living room as i type this......in London, England :thumbsup:

Have 2 more popping over next month. So at least 3 out of 33.5M isn't so bad :D

I would warrant a guess that actually they are 'europeans' born in Canada carrying a Canadian passport. :sneaky:
