Richard and Andrea Ellis can't make ends meet as a paramedic and physiotherapist in Yorkshire, and hope that the wide open spaces of Alberta, Canada, will give them the job opportunities they crave. But will they be disheartened by work permit problems, bears in the back yard and an awful lot of snow?

With their qualifications those two are going to do very well....however besides the bears and snow, they should also look out fur them dangerous lumberjacks... as well as big macho mounties riding fast horses. HA.

"But will they be disheartened by....an awful lot of snow?"

We don't really get all that much snow but would they be disheartened by most of it coming in April? Or this year, in May? 24 inches in early May one weekend, followed by a week of on-and-off-again snow falls. Worst May I ever seen here. The leaves are not even fully out yet.

As for bears, depends where you live. I've seen one not ten minutes from where I live when I was out jogging once. Did what you're not supposed to do: ran like hell.

A cougar was caught in Calgary yesterday. An adolescent one with a toothache - apparently.

looks like the chap landed on his feet with the job. and i was very impressed that boss and friend went to airport to meet them with new car. have'tnt heard of that happening any where else yet.

Can you outrun a bear Tim? bet you don't want to find out eh.
Having said that you could wrestle it, I have heard of some bears that like that.

I'd be more worried about the cougars than the bears. Oh and the snow in summer.
