....i can log into online banking as normal whenever i need to without any gadget. This is from my bank. Now we are making it even more secure because we are introducing a new Chip and PIN Card Reader (Card Reader). In the future you will be asked to use the Card Reader when you carry out certain banking instructions online, but for now, you don't need to do anything. We will contact you with more information shortly before you receive your Card Reader, which will be accompanied by a user guide explaining how to use it. On the website it clearly says I will not be able to make payments etc without the card reader. They tell me it's coming in March. |

Me too....but it's something that seems to be on the way for everyone, just like chip and PIN is being extended.

Re: Barclays account - Warning!
It is true you can still login without using a 'PinSentry' device but if you try and make a payment you will not be able to until they upgrade your account and send you out a PinSentry device:blink:
I agree Barclays are crap whenever you have to speak to them for some information. I always make 2 or 3 calls because you never get told the same thing twice it seems and I always insist on speaking to a manager or Team Leader....:frown: As long as you do all your own banking online - dont call them or go into a branch for anything they are great:rofl: |

Re: Barclays account - Warning!
This PINsentry idea is a load of nonsense. It sounds an awful lot like an unnecessary solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. One of the huge advantages of online banking for me has always been the ability to conduct transactions from anywhere at any time. If you have to have this card reader attached to the computer you're sitting at, it negates the whole point.
If you habitually do banking transactions from both home and work, are they suggesting you should carry the bloody thing with you to and from the office every day? Take it on holiday and plug it in in an internet cafe? How does putting a card and a PIN into a keypad offer any greater security than a properly managed password login? |
Re: Barclays account - Warning!
Hi
I still bank with Barclays - Did you call the Telephone Banking Centre?? I called after being in Canada for about 3 months and the Agent did it there and then, wasn't on long on the phone etc... I would be gutted if I had been in the branch and it still didn't get done....welcome to the world of banking. |

Re: Barclays account - Warning!
Sorry - I have had no problems whatsoever with Barclays. Changed addresses on four accounts, got the pinsentry all with no delays.
