Bad few days.......
......help I am having a nightmare..........for the last few days I feel like I have been dealing with aliens! Firstly, had to stay in all day on Friday as Telus were coming to put our phone in, took them 3 weeks to come! I waited in all day, on a lovely sunny day, missed my kids sports day and hey ho they never showed up or rang (the cell!). Today after my irrate phone call they came and Telus say it is the electricians fault and the electrician says it is Telus! Still no phone! BT was excellent compared to this lot and that is saying something!!!!
Went to have my hair done today. I have visited every hairdresser in the area and have still not found one that is up to UK standards, especially for colouring. They still don't know what highlighting is, they are still streaking! So went off to The Bay and felt abit more confident.........left without paying, as I look like a cross between a zebra and a tiger! Have to go out and buy a hat now to cover up my hair. There is more but I won't bore you any longer, I feel better now and had to get some of that off my chest......thank you for listening! I wonder what is going to happen tomorrow............ JJ |

At my barber's in Calgary I look like I have just walked out of Auschwitz after each cut. Why do I keep going? - because at least they are consistent.
And, ironically enough, the barber is a certified journeyman - yes, apparently he has received formal training and passed tests in how to make people look awful. |
Re: Bad few days.......
telus, yep, they are totally crapola.
Dyes in this country are different shades!! the blondes are more yellow than the colours in the UK. I looked bloody dire after my first $160 colour and cut. Now I dye my own and go to Supercuts. Seeing that my hair is badly cut no matter where I go I resent paying for it.... Telus are so crap... so so crap... God I miss BT. Clare |

Telus are so crap... so so crap... God I miss BT. Clare My number is unlisted for security/safety as my work involves dealing with some rather scary individuals at times. Last Wednesday, Telus took it upon themselves to give my active and unlisted number to a business in the town I live in. They gave it to this business as the businesses new "call forward number". The business promptly programmed my number in and left for the evening. I get home Thursday and Friday to a full mailbox and nearly seventy messages over two days. Telus claimed the customer was at fault and told me to call them. Yes, you guessed it, all that gave me was my own voicemail. Do you think I could get the cerebrally challenged customer service operator to understand this?? Ha! I had to get the business account shut down to stop the messages being left - and Telus initially stated that I would have to pay the other party's charges to reconnect them with a new number....a new number that was not mine as I already had the number that they had given out in error!!!???!!! DUH????? It took a few less than polite words and the carefully framed threat of legal action to get the most incompetent carrier in North America to back down. Unreal - did I get an apology? Did I h***. |

Thanks to you all, your posts made me smile and it is nice to know I am not the only one walking around with a weird hair cut!
Cheers, JJ |
I went to some place I think was called 'Hollywood cuts' in Centremall, Hamilton....with my designer cut just wanting a trim....unfortunetaly I was wearing my glasses and not contacts...spoke to the lady hairdresser and she understood what I wanted...I even showed her a picture...and it was just a trim.....when I put my glasses back on I almost had a heart attack(at the age of 26) ...I looked like an army recruit!.....being the decent bloke I am I actually paid her......'Hollywood nightmare' morelike.

I'm sorry about your experiences with hairdressers. It's the other way around for me though. I struggled to find a decent hairdresser in England. Here, however, I have found 2 great ones - Toni & Guy in Yorkville, Toronto, and Donato at Square One in Mississauga.

Telus are terrible. Trouble is, right now we're forced to use them if we want to use ADSL - this is supposed to be changing soon. The call center staff seem to all be 16 with no manners or common sense.
I refuse to pay Telus' high international rates, so I buy phone cards or use free voice over IP services. As for hair cuts, I found a decent place in Calgary - funny thing is its run and staffed by immigrants! Not much in the way of local barber shops, but there are a couple where I live in Bridgeland. |
Another vote for Telus are crap
When I first got Telus I had someone else's voicemail and it took them a month to sort that out. I also had several goes at getting a form to authorize direct payment but they just seemed incapable of sending one - I gave up and paid by cheque every month |

As someone else mentioned the calling cards seemed to be the cheapest way - you can get 1,000 minutes to the UK for $10
