If this is true, how the hell do you buy a cheap car ?

By calling all possibilities and looking at as many as possible before finding one that remotely resembles the description you have been given. Never ever agree to pay any money up front - unless your ebaying - then only do a deposit, you can walk away from a ebay purchase if the car described is not what you are buying!

We have looked at tonnes of cars/trucks, very few are as described, it's such a releif when you find one for the right money and it is as described, it really is! One of these days we will travel 2 hours to see a car that's been described as rust free and in perfect condition and the pictures look great (because they took the piccies 10 years ago) to find that it's not rust free blah blah blah my hubby won't be able to help himself, he'll punch the lying bleep and end up on an assault charge. Believe me my hubby is not violent but it does get frustrating.

I think they've started doing free adverts or something because all of a sudden there are hundreds/thousands of spam adverts. They are probably just the usual waste of space spammers or con artists. I've seen loads of $35k+ BMWs listed for 5 and 6 grand. Same details, same car picture multiple times. Filter by dealer and minimum price to get rid of the waste of space adverts.

autohound is pretty good. I prefer their site.

I see! But dealers don't always know what they are getting - I've seen some of the 'mistakes' that are sent straight back to auction. We had a dealer looking for a Navigator for us, he has been incredibly impressed by the one we found ourselves $5k less than the budget we gave him! The deals are out there if you lok long and hard enough.
