aussie credit rating
 

hi all

Just wanting to see if anyone had been in a similar situation...

Im applying for the BUNAC visa this year(2010) and need to get a police check from Australia because i lived there for a year. My problem is that I still have not got round to sorting out paying for a credit card i had while i was out there. I had it for the whole year and was constantly making payments into it but when i left 2 years ago it was sitting at about $4500...:confused:
I was waiting until i finished uni to pay it back as there is no way i can afford to do it now, but Iv deciced to take a year out to snow board and now I'm worried that it will show up on the aussie police check and I wont get in to canada!

If anyone has any info i would appreciate it!

Debt is a civil matter not criminal. Unless Oz is functioning in a Dickensian manner your debts will not be recorded by the police/justice system. It is not a crime to owe money.
