Atlantic Maritimes of Canada

Hi - I only just joined this forum last week.

I'm living in Toronto at the moment after landing here as a new immigrant in Feb 2010. I was thinking if either going back to the UK for a short while to sort something out before returning to Canada or stay longer in Canada and move to the Maritimes of Canada.

If I returned to the UK to sort out my finances and then returned to Canada - I'd certainly return to the Maritimes. All of Atlantic provinces look awesome, I was wondering whom here has settled in the Atlantic Maritimes and what is it like?

I would be looking for a job in IT but may eventually change careers. Recently I've been looking at Prince Edward Island and I have a American friend in Nova Scotia whom immigranted to Canada a few years ago.

There are many of us that have settled this side if you just take the time to look you will find many posts on the area. Not sure what IT jobs are available on PEI but be aware it costs just over $40 every time you want to leave the Island. There are a few IT jobs around but a lot will depend on where you want to live and what IT experience you have. DH is IT but lucky to work from home but not sure if you can find many jobs that offer this

We'd second that! I have no idea about your job prospects in this area but we've been in New Brunswick for only a few weeks now and love it!

We're living in Grand Bay, about 20 mins from Saint John, and an hour from Fredericton. Everyone here is very laid back and really friendly, our son's settling into school well and making friends easily because everyone is so welcoming.

Good luck!

Finding an appropriate job will influence where you live more so than the sound of the ocean or the peace of a rural location.

Atlantic Xpat deleted his pedantry, so I'll do it for him.

There is no such thing as the Atlantic Maritimes. The Maritimes are NB, PEI and NS. Atlantic Canada is those three plus NF. QC is also on the Atlantic but does not form part of either the Maritimes or Atlantic Canada.

Hope that clears things up.:p

Does it not worry you that I can read your mind?

I think my response to this particular thread could have been predicted without too much in the way of mind reading.

In my experience this is correct. But that being said, I moved to Fredericton without a job and found one here.
