Default In and around Kelowna and Kamloops & Nearby towns

Disclaimer:

Beyond looking up a map of Kelowna and Kamloops and looking for names of places around them, I have not gone any further into researching them.

I am looking for any an all impressions of these places from people who have lived there or nearby for real world opinions.

Mainly looking at 4 main categories

Ability to rent housing $800 or less per month. (housing in generic term.)

Nearby hospital or at least within a short drive

And must have at least a walk in clinic

Employment options in the 13-16/hr range

Locations I see on google maps:

Pentiction

Summerland

Peachland

Vernon

Merritt

Would any of these even be worth looking at?

I am still starting, but google can only give me so much, real world opinions from folks who have lived or spent time in these areas tends to be a lot more useful.

Or any other regions anyone knows of i the interior that matches the above, feel free to leave the name of the city.

Last time I went to Merritt it was closed...there's nothing there and its too far from everywhere.

I would add West Kelowna as Kelowna's cheaper neighbour.

Penticton is quite a nice small town, but employment opportunities could be limited.

Summerland and Peachland are just dormitory towns - no significant work.

Vernon is the only reasonable place you've listed job-wise I would say.

There is a Country museum in Merritt good for a Starbucks on the way in to zone coast or a tiddle at the Visitor Centre on the corner but that is about it.

Add Vernon to the poor employment availability . Downturn in oil has had a large return to the town of oil patch workers expecting to be paid $$ for jobs and then meeting the real world of relatively poorly paid jobs which are in demand because of lack of availability of employment.

Why not Kamloops or Kelowna itself instead of the surrounding area?
