Applying for my Visa

Hi all! Hope you are all well, this is my first post and was just looking for some info.
I have recently decided that I would like to move to Canada and now I want to start the ball rolling. I have decided to go for the skilled worker visa option.
Now I know there is a lot to think about and plan, like finances, how much should I be looking to have to settle with? or how much do the officials expect you to have?
Also should I apply for the visa now or wait until I have said amount of finances in the bank before applying? Just curious as thought if I apply for the visa now, by the time it goes through the process i could have all the money I need. But if I dont have all the money I need is there a certain time limit you have to move into the country by?

Sorry if this should be common knowledge for someone looking to immigrate but any help or advice you have for me would be much appreciated.
Thanks Allan

See http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/immigra...lled/funds.asp

You need to have this proof of funds when you make your application AND when you land.

Loads of useful information.
