Anyone in Prince George? Want a meet up?

I've avoided fraternising with expats as much as possible- so I could meet and get to know Canadians.
But it's hard to make friends and I'm hoping there's some people from back there, maybe there's some Brits in the area?

:confused:Wow, either not a single other member here in the frozen nearly north... Or I'm really that unpopular.

Is it really remote where you live?

I would meet up - but I am in Calgary :)

Prince George is the second biggest city in BC (after Vancouver) it's called the northern capital and mostly everyone here is from somewhere else!
Guess I'll have to stick to Internet friends lol

Not quite, but it makes the top 10:

1 Vancouver 2,135,201
2 Victoria 316,327
3 Abbotsford 149,855
4 Kelowna 141,767
5 Nanaimo 88,799
6 White Rock 82,368
7 Kamloops 73,472
8 Chilliwack 66,382
9 Prince George 65,503
10 Vernon 44,600

Ah, but the OP carefully said the 2nd biggest city not the 2nd most populous. This is the sort of nonsense that tiny "cities" which cover trillions of square miles of wilderness with very few people living in it use as self aggrandizement propaganda.

I fear you'll just have to try and meet locals as normal people are not going to move to Prince George unless they have to.

Oink, I didn't say they had to be normal.

And RICH you are right we don't have many people actually living here but they don't count the thousands who come thru here every day.

Perhaps rather than second biggest city, I should have said I'm regularly told it's BCs second city. I don't really care tbh it's a bit like a large town and I quite like it here. Apart from the smell.

Anyway- as it appears there's not a single other British expat here (willing to admit it) then locals it is!

I think we can be sure that not every expat Brit in the whole wide world is a member of this forum.

Put a sticky up in the local corner store.

I think I was there when I was about 12 and we were on our way to Dawson Creek. They have one of those signs in Dawson Creek with many arrows on it saying 'melbourne 3 million miles ' and Ottawa, 1600 miles and junk like that on it - any place with a sign like that is usually considered to be in the middle of nowhere. That must make Prince George 'on the way to the middle of nowhere'. A more polite way of saying that might be Gateway to the North or something similar. All I can remember about it was the river was really wide, I think there were grey boulders all over the place, it was windy and I didn't catch any fish. I'd meet up but if you had one of those signs the arrow would say Regina 1,512.9 km.

I'm at least on the same Island, but at the other end. I think it's about 400km north from here. Went there once and to be honest I don't really have plans to revisit any time soon. Striking part of the Island though. Glad you like it!

There's a Prince George on Vancouver Island? Didn't know that.

I can't find one on the island but it could be really small or a local name. I'll ask my friend who used to live in Nanoose Bay and see if he knows it.
