I went to University and then moved home till I was 25. Kind've regret it now but it enabled me to pay debt, save cash and find a career path.

It's harder for kids now as atleast in my day tuition fees got paid at University. My debt was just rent and partying which I could not cover with a summer job.

I also came here on my own - initially it was going to be a temporary move for the duration of my PhD, but fast-forward 6 years and I'm getting married and looking at staying indefinitely!!

It helped that I knew a few people who had also recently moved over - but I think even without that, I've made other friends through work etc.
