Hasn't there been some recent study showing increasing numbers of sons staying with parents to an older age than used to be the case? So not so unusual perhaps.
Of course, never having been used to taking responsibility for the bills and things, might make it easier than adjusting to the differences.
Maybe it's easier to learn to drive on the right from scratch instead of driving on the left and then changing, if you see what I mean.

It's harder for kids now as atleast in my day tuition fees got paid at University. My debt was just rent and partying which I could not cover with a summer job.

I also came here on my own - initially it was going to be a temporary move for the duration of my PhD, but fast-forward 6 years and I'm getting married and looking at staying indefinitely!!
It helped that I knew a few people who had also recently moved over - but I think even without that, I've made other friends through work etc.
