anyone here from saskatchewan?
 

hi!
is there anyone on here who is living in saskatchewan (i'll call it sk from now on as i cant type the name very fast!) or has information about the place from experience, pls?
i ask the question as i have come across a property deal there that sounds, in theory, quite good.
a portfolio of 7 houses, ranging between 2 and 3 bedroom types, fully rented and pulling in $2500 rent per month, for a price in the region of $200k for the lot.
ok, so you are probably asking if its so good, then why is the owner selling up, which is exactly what i am wondering.....:confused:
there may well be a problem with the area or future city plans etc etc.
thats why i thought i may as well try and tap the brains of the peeps on this forum, which may or may not help!:thumbup:

Whereabouts in Saskatchewan are these houses? I have friends who have rental property in Regina. If you tell me where they are - I can give you some more information - if I have it!!

Just seen where you are living Julius. I'm assuming it's Streatham BC rather than Streatham South London (as most people there aren't happy at all!).

We have also been looking at the cheap properties available to buy in Regina. Like you, however, we feel there must be a catch, but we are flying out in June to check it out for ourselves.

There is no catch. Properties are cheap here. Where you want to live depends on what you want. OK so we don't have some of the advantages of the big cities, but we also don't have some of the disadvantages.

And - before anyone starts shouting and yelling - this is ONE opinion by one person -- I have a friend who has been here for about four years. She went home for a holiday for the first time over Easter. She said she couldn't wait to get back.

It's quiet here. Good for families. A traffic jam is maybe five cars at a traffic light. You can get to the other side of the city in about 20 minutes. If you want to meet other Brits, move to Lumsden. Lumsden is about 15 minutes north of here on the highway. It's really pretty. In the river valley. My friends live on an acreage about half an hour north of here on the edge of the Qu'Appelle Valley. They have dogs, various wildlife - peacock I believe and maybe a pheasant or two. They are getting a couple of young Clydesdales. Their son chose them as a present for graduating from grade 12.

If you let me know when you are coming, I can arrange for you to meet my friends, they will tell you how they got on. If my pool liner is fixed by the time you come I might even invite you round for a swim. At the moment it looks like this:

When the snow went away, we noticed that the water had been leaking out over the winter. However, the last time we had a new liner was 1992, so it doesn't owe us anything.

They certainly aren't cheap anymore in Saskatoon!

I bet they are by comparison with -- London, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton etc. etc.

Yeah, but they're hardly cheap compared to typical wages in Saskatchewan... whereas they were 2-3 years ago. I believe Regina is the cheapest city to live in Canada relative to incomes though.

Hi there...just browsing round the site and found this here.

i have been to your city.>? :p town.? my sister in law lives in Canora. i also went to Saskatoon and Prince Albert.

One thing i found in each place..was the people that live there...love it there. there realy is NO right or wrong in where to live. it is what is right for each of us as individuals. and we each are entitled to our own opinions. :) just as you say~

I am hoping to get back out that way sooner rather than later. to take it all in again..Oh and i walked across my first swinging bridge...ok..ok.it was a little one..but it was still out there swinging away...hehehee..:thumbsup:
