Hey Jerry.
Congratulations. You'll have your AOR before you know it.

Take care

Re: Anyone heard from Mississauga

This might sound stupid but I'm reading all this stuff about people checking on their status at Mississauga. We sent in our app for Spousal Sponsorship (My wife sponsoring me, we both live in the UK) 2 weeks ago today, as of yet we can't even get confirmation from the Royal Mail’s 'International Signed For' service that it has left the UK, all it says is 'being prepared for international shipment'. We were going to send it by courier, but because we paid the ROLF up front no one would ship it with the International Bank Draft, as they say it’s a ‘negotiable item’ so we had to use the Post Office.

How do we know when Mississauga have received the app and when do we get some kind of reference so we can check status and so on. I know it's only been mailed 2 weeks ago, but would be nice to know they got it ok.

Re: Anyone heard from Mississauga

Hi
If you used what we used , 'international signed for service' , it is a bit of a 'con' as it only tracks the item up to the point it leaves the UK,
With ours I think within 4-5 days we had the following message to say it had left the UK.

'Your item, posted on **/**/** with reference RI***********GB has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in CANADA.'

Our original application was posted 14 Nov 05, and was received on 21 Nov 05 ( info on e-cas ), However this was in with all the christmas post.
Our returned application was sent 24 Mar 06 and received 29 Mar 06.
both times using the post office 'international signed for service'.

In your shoes with it saying 'being prepared for international shipment' I would contact the post office on the telephone to check think the number is 08457 740 740, for peace of mind at least..

We didn't get any confirmation from mississuaga about receipt, only on e-cas , ( using our internet fees payment receipt number ), but I think it although received in Nov , i don't recall seeing the info posted that it had been received until early Dec.

P.S. Thanks to all for the +ve comments on our application,
The sun is out and we are all feeling hopeful ...
Cheers
Jerry

Since we paid with "international bank draft" we did not get an "internet fees payment receipt number", so I guess we can't check status until Mississauga contact us, but thanks for your help I'll contact the Post Office, aggggggghhhhh, it's only been two weeks, I'll be a gibbering wreck before this is over.

If you go to http://www.canadapost.ca/segment-e.asp?sblid=english and key in your reference number you will be able to check if it's been recieved at Mississuaga. It shows you the signature of who signed for it and when etc. CIC do send you an acknowledgment letter but I think that's about a month after they received it.

Hi,

We've been reading this thread with interest as we're also playing the waiting game - could someone explain what "CPC at Mississauga" is and what they do?

We had our AOR Dec 2004, have just sold the house and are looking to rent - but it looks like its going to be ages yet.

Thanks!

Husband of Horizons here.

Should I wait for the request to pay ROLF or should I pay it on line before it is requested? If I pay on line is it the $950 fee that I should be paying?

Thanks in advance

You can choose either way, I waited and it only added a mere 2 weeks to my case, but you can pay it online now and send a reciept to Mississauga and as an FYI to London. and yes its $975 :D

Keg and Mash im assuming if you had your AOR in 2004 that you are skilled workers? this thread pertains to Spousal applicants whereby we are married to Canadians and are fasttracked. CPC-Mississauga assess the suitability of our Canadian partners to sponsor us. THis office does not deal with Skilled Worker cases. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that- this explains it all! Yes, we're skilled workers and very envious!

Ah well, good things come to those who wait....and wait..... and wait!

thanks again.

Hi all
I've just got my passport back and it took about 8 days from posting it! WooHoo so that it then - roll on September!

We got it delivered to my Mums address as we thought we would have already moved out of our place but they turned it round super quick! We too were surprised it was not a stamp/insert in the passport but a computer print out page. Is that right? Will we get a stamp/insert in the passport at immigration when we land??

Not sure if this info is of any interest to any of you. It was posted on Brits2Van forum about the landing process. The question was 'What actually happens when you land?

Answer 1:
We have just recently arrived and gone through the process.

Just to add about bringing your own photos. Make sure that they are on
a white background, with a matt finish. If you wear glasses make sure
there is no glare on the glass. Your top must be a black or very dark
shirt/blouse preferable up to the neck line as they want a big
contrast against the white background. Hair should be off the forehead.

We had to have photos taken, and they give you a black velcro smock
top to wear for their photos, which are only in black and white, so we
are dreading what it looks like when we receive our PR cards.

Don't forget also that you will also need to show your proof of funds
to the Immigration official.

Our whole process took about an hour and forty five minutes. There
were half a dozen other applicants ahead of us.

You only get your copy of the immigration document to take with you as
you leave the immigration area. Our PR cards will take about six weeks
to send to us. Be prepared to keep your passport and the immigration
document with you as you will be asked for it for ID a lot.

They will give you the forms that you need to submit to the
authorities to get your Social Insurance Number. We took ours to the
main office in Vancouver on Hastings. They told us it will take about
three to four weeks to mail the SIN stuff to us. However, they also
said that we do not have to wait to work before getting these numbers,
it might just mean that the employer cannot pay us until they know the
number.

You should also have your MSP documents ready to send, and you can
just fax these off after your arrival. We got our confirmation sheets
through the following week. Although you are told that you need three
months cover before it kicks in, the month of arrival counts as the
first full month. So if you arrived today and fired off the forms, the
cover would be live fom June 1st.

Answer 2:
Just go through passport control, tell them you are landing as Permanent
Residents, and they will then direct you to the Immigration processing area
(just behind and to the right of passport control). In there they will
probably take your photo again (looking really great after a 10 hour flight
from the UK!), check your landing forms, ask a few questions. We didn't have
to show proof of funds, although we did have bank statements. After they are
done, you then go through customs, where you show them your 'goods to follow
list'. If you want to really impress them (and speed things up), fill in the
official form on the CIC website and make a copy, then all they have to do
is stamp it and give it back. And that's it, "welcome to Canada"....

Took us about 45mins and we were the only ones in immigration at the time.
Probably a lot longer if you're timing is bad and you land just after a
plane from China :)

Good luck to rest - who is still waiting now???
