I tried my VHS the other day and the picture would not hold on my TV, I thought it must be due to PAL/NTSC, but from what you say it seems that should not be a problem. Is that correct?

Can anyone recommend a specific cheap DVD player that already will, or can easily be converted to, play region 2 DVDs, and that is available from Futureshop, The Brick, or similar chain? Not Walmart please - there are none in Vancouver.

MAX 6100, $29.95 at Future Shop and multi-region right out of the box. If you have an older TV that won't display PAL video, it will also do PAL->NTSC conversion for you.

Great thread this, just went to best buy and got a Philips DVP 5140 DVD player for $60 and bought a couple of DVD's whilst at it.

Followed the instructions from the www.videohelp.com site listed in an earlier post on this thread to change it to region 0 (all regions) and played a DVD from the UK and one of the local ones.

Great
