Anyone flying to Vancouver on 4th June?!
Yippee - booked our flights for Thursday 4th June - flying with BA from Terminal 5... anyone else headed out to Vancouver around that time?
Cannot believe we are finally going - the nerves have started to kick in and saying goodbye to people is more distressing that we could ever have imagined!
However we are very excited about our new life in Vancouver! Shippers are booked for next week - GULP!
Thanks to everyone on the forum for the fab advice and hopefully we'll meet up with some of you in Vancouver

Good luck and enjoy the ride.
We're flying out to YVR 2.5 weeks after you, albeit for a wedding and holiday.
If you're flying Club don't forget to get in early and book your free "emigration massage"

cor blimey i wish i were flying over
after we landed at the start of march, i had hoped that things might have turned around economically out there, with companies starting to recruit again and things looking all the more prosperous.
as it turns out, my efforts to gain some interest in my earning an honest wage have amounted to sweet fanny adams, with the Vancouver Sun's doom and gloom reportage suggesting that such is unlikely to change in the immediate to med term future.
fortune favours the brave and all..... but with 3 years until it all turns in to a huge waste of time and hope, i guess i am given a bit of extra time in which to practice patience!
good luck tho! have you jobs and houses waiting for you?:

Thanks Michelle - wishing you and your family a great time in Canada too - its getting a little too real, too quick! LOL!! But still excited!!
Even though we have not got jobs - we have faith - and lots of family out there - so we will be camping out with them for the time being and searching like crazy for jobs... hubby has interview lined up the Monday after we land - so fingers and toes crossed!
The situation here is dire too - so we figure might as well enjoy the scenic mountains and be somewhere where we want to be!! Hopefully fortune will favour us!

We have been lucky my OH was made redundant here just before Christmas and had no luck finding work here but following our visas in Jan, he had a telephone interview at the beginning of Feb, a face to face end of Feb, job offer March and started work mid-April - so have faith!! I have everything crossed for you! As you said the situation is dire here too so what have you to lose!
We too are starting off with family and having that support network will definately help. Get them involved in the job hunting too, Kevin secured his job through someone he knew so it definately works differently out there. We fired off his CV (resume) to all our family and friends out there and it did the trick for us.
Best of luck!
