Good day all. First time poster. My mum currently lives in Calgary and has Canadian citizenship having been there 15 years. I recently discovered that Edmonton police are looking to recruit from international applicants and I was wondering if there were any ex British officers currently working in Edmonton could let me know how they find it? I am aware of the pay, conditions, leave, shift pattern, hours, benefits but wanted to know more about people's experiences.
I would be looking to hopefully move to St Albert as I know people there also, with my wife and 6 year old little girl. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, not sure if it's any help but a family member, originally from Leicester, is working for the RCMP at an Edmonton office. Different organization of course but he enjoys his job, he was not a police officer when he emigrated here. I know of someone else, Canadian born and bred, that is an officer with Edmonton Police Service (EPS), he also is happy with his lot.
St. Albert is a nice enough place apparently but the people I mention are living in Spruce Grove / Stony Plain, about 30 minute drive from St. Albert and downtown Edmonton. Housing is certainly less expensive here than the UK though prices are rising. EPS pay more than RCMP!
Hope it works out for you.

My ex used to work for the Calgary police and he said that listening to the radio you'd think you were in the UK sometimes. This was a while back so I don't know if they were actively recruiting overseas at that time. I realize I am not helping anybody here. Just wanted to share

Hi there,
I'm with Edmonton Police, moved here from North Wales nearly 13 years ago.
