just as well as given your opinion of coppers, you would not wanting to be calling for help now would you

I never call the police. I realise that I run the risk of prosecution for not reporting this and that and that it means I can't claim on insurance for losses but I think that's better than risking involvement with the police.

The old North York, which includes J&F etc is now all part of Toronto. Rexdale is part of the old Etobicoke, also now Toronto.

These days York means York Region which starts at Steeles in the south and goes to Hwy 50 in the east.

But you already knew that.

I genuinely confused York and North York. However, yes, I know that the crime ridden northwest of Toronto is part of North York. I got my gun license in North York, the tester joked that I'd have the only licensed gun for miles.

I'm not lucky with the cops. If I reported a burglary they come and bust me for weed plants or bald tyres or some crap. I'd sooner not get involved with them, that's all, I don't say they're all thugs.

I live in Agincourt but I always thought it a bit snooty to refer to it that way. I always associate it with people whose families were here before it turned into a suburb. Usually on paperwork for passports etc I just put Toronto. Agincourt does sound classy though (too me).

I trust this is not how your GPS displays York Region. If so, throw it out and buy a new one.

I've been looking at the Applicant Testing exam, what is the difference between Special constable and Police? What are their salaries? What area/field do they work in?
Would they be on a par with PCSO's over here? Do they have power of arrest etc... I've had a brief search on google, and see that University of Toronto use Specials as Campus Police, and that the Toronto subway system employ specials.

Err........then having been a cop in the UK for over 12 years and not getting a penny towards my mortgage, I must be owed a fortune

new cops stopped getting housing allowance in 1994, those already getting it had their payments ring fenced, so only cops with more than 17 years service will still get, what now, is a relatively small amount

Yes....in many ways Agincourt really refers to the area along Sheppard from about Kennedy to Brimley and there is a postal address called Agincourt that covers a much bigger area. Agincourt may have been a old police village (hey, we have to bring it back to the OP somehow).

I think people refer to where they live as Agincourt to disassociate themselves from Scarberia or some of the more crime ridden parts of Scarborough.
