Default Any English, Irish or new zealanders in Cochrane, Calgary?

We have just secured a rental in cochrane and we were just wondering if any of the above live there? Would love to meet for a coffee, when we move there. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Cochrane has loads of Brits! Just hang out at some of the stores and you'll hear accents from all over.

Whilst there is the talking point and common theme of being an expat - you are actually allowed to try and make friends with - sharp intake - a Canadian!!!!!

And people complain about immigrants to other countires flocking together.....................!!!!!

Yeah, obviously if you've exhausted all other options and you're getting a bit desperate you can go that route. But it's still early days for the OP and so hopefully she doesn't have to resort to that.

Yes, very specific. No Welsh, Scots, Aussies (or even Canadians) allowed?

Hello Mrs B. Yes, there's no end of us Brits here in Cochrane. Whereabouts in town is your rental? I'm always happy to meet up for a coffee and chat sometime; there's quite a few of us that do from time to time anyway! PM if you like and we can "chat".

Thank you will do!

Sorry if I sounded vague, I of course am open to meeting all expats from any country and have already booked some groups so we can mingle with locals. Just thought it would be nice to put it out there and mix with expats that have gone thru similar experiences. A friend is a friend so not bothered where they arevfrom and didn't mean to single anyone imparticular out. I wouldn't of moved to Canada if I didntvwant to meet Canadians, just wanting to meet people, nothing more nothing less

You'll fit right in then; plenty of Scots here too, including my neighbours!

I met a few yesterday as they came down to snaffle up some of my steamed crab. Anyway we got talking and in the course of the conversation one them piped up and said in a serious manner. “Of course we Canadians don’t really have an accent we just sound like people on the tv” now I’d had about four beers and half a bottle of zinfandel by then, so I fell about laughing and then subjected them to a continuous barrage of “hey buddy, good job buddy, ooh ooh that’s awesome buddy etc.” They all looked rather mortified.
