Any Electricians currently in Alberta?

What is the job situation like in Calgary at the moment?

Do you have your provincial certification and are you a Canadian citizen/PR, or will you require sponsorship to work? Just for anybody reading that may be able to help, I'd imagine those two things will have a bearing on your chances.

Good luck.

What kind of electrician - Domestic/Contruction or Industrial/Commercial? Do you have CoQ for Alberta or a different Province?

They are different NOC's and have separate Certificates of Qualification, so the question I asked was relevant.

They are. If they are looking for work it would be useful to know whether they are a Commercial / Industrial Sparky or a Domestic / Construction Sparky

There was a good discussion on Reddit about this recently, a couple of people mentioned that the market is a little over-saturated with Electricians in Alberta

Problem is being an electrician is the first thought for everyone entering the trades, largely because it's typically much less of a dirty job and the bulk of their work done happens in non-element exposed places.

I swear after graduating highschool here in Alberta, of all the people I knew who went into trades, half of them went to become sparkys. More than a few are currently unemployed currently now, also.

I have the Alberta Red Seal. As far as I am aware it includes commercial and industrial installations.

Do you mean that you have a Red Seal Endorsement on your Certificate of Qualification for Alberta? Red Seal isn't a stand alone, it's an Endorsement on a Provincial C of Q :)

There are 2 Electrician Red Seal Endorsements - one is for Industrial / Commercial Electricians and one is for Domestic / Construction Electricians.

Industrial Electrician / Red Seal
Construction - http://www.red-seal.ca/trades/c.4nst_.2l.2ctr.3c-eng.html

Regardless, what is your main trade - domestic / construction sparky or Industrial / commercial?
