Any Carpenters working in Penticton BC
Hi
My husband has accepted a job working for a large construction company based in Penticton as a carpenter and will be starting there in October. He has been self-employed in England most of his working life. It is going to be a big change so wanted to know if anyone out there could let him know how different thier work practices are to England, attitudes to workforce etc. Also would love to hear from anyone living and working in the Okanagan region and how they find it.
Cheers

Download this onto your computer. Take it from me, coming from from a Yorkshireman, it is free and it is safe:

Then do a search. Good luck.

Re: Any Carpenters working in Penticton BC
Hi,
My hubby started working in Penticton back in May, he's not a carpenter but he has found work practices especially health and safety vastly different and not up to same standards that are enforced in the UK.
He has found the heat in the valley over the summer real hard as he does a very physical job, it is starting to cool down now though. Coming from a small town in the UK, we think of Penticton as a big city, but there are lots of smaller places real close, Naramata is really nice, Summerland and OK Falls are nice too.
We visited Penticton in April after the ski season had finished and it was quiet, not quite a ghost town but not far off, not all the restaurants/motels were open ect. During the summer months it is heaving but there is loads to do and see if you can put up with the heat.
