Any Bus Driver jobs in NS?
Hi all, This question is on behalf of a friend who is a Bus Driver. Does anyone know of any jobs preferably in the NS area, or any companies worth emailing. Would Bus Driver qualify for PR status?

if your friend is looking for year-round work , this would probably be the company to apply to: http://www.smtbus.com/en/acadian/joignezvous.asp
they are as far as I know, the only intercity coach line in the Maritimes.
for seasonal work, contact Ambassatours in Halifax, they own 32 buses and mainly transport tourists (cruise ship passengers) during the summer months.

No. Bus drivers (NOC Code #7412) belong to Skill Level C on the National Occupational Classification Matrix. In the normal course of events, they are not eligible to apply for permanent residence visas via the skilled worker route.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are another way of obtaining permanent resident status. Some PNPs (Alberta's and British Columbia's spring to mind) have semi-skilled worker streams, but I don't know if bus drivers are amongst the occupations that they include.
The City of Calgary is short of bus drivers and recently held a recruitment drive. But Calgary is an expensive city, and bus drivers are not well paid. I know that at least one member of this forum, who has other skill sets as well, signed up with the City of Calgary and will be coming over on a temporary work permit, just to get his toe in the door so to speak.

Try Halifax Transit. I understand they hire drivers on a regular basis.
