Another winter almost done

Worst one for Snowmobiling since I got her

Very strange winter we had in Newfoundland I think I used the snowblower a total of 6 times

It was our first, and I feel blessed that we have been eased into Canadian winters so lightly.

Mind you, the locals keep telling me we could still get dumped on before the month is out.

I bought a quad a couple of years back and got bored of it pretty quickly then sold it at a tidy loss after 1 summer - Much prefer the wind blowing through my golden locks ;) with the speed of the skidoo

That is until you are 40 miles in the middle of nowhere at the back of Gambo and the engine blows

18 degrees and sunny here today, feels like a British summer!

(apparently not going to last though, back to single digits next week )

I don't understand the appeal of snowmobiling. I've only done it once, and that was in the mountains above Borjomi in the Republic of Georgia. The snowmobile was an enormous old 1970s Soviet beast that looked like a MiG-3 engine on skids. The only sensations I recall were noise, vibration and naked fear. Oh, and wind chill.

Skidooing, is generally about speed - pin and grin across the frozen lakes/tundra/bog. ATV'ing is generally about the technical bit of threading your way through the woods/along a trail or poleline, crossing streams etc etc. I enjoy both but an investment of $x in an ATV for what will be 11 months of riding vs. a skidoo for probably 2 months max, is an easier to justify decision!

It's 28C on my patio at the moment. They say it will be 32C by 4.00 AZ time ! What a pity I have to head back to Nova Scotia in a few days. Oh well, hopefully spring will have well and truly sprung by the time I get there.

Why do you head back for the spring/summer?

And here was me thinking that ATV'ing for the nfld chapter of expats involved finding the muddiest holes and getting stuck, causing you to have to winch each other out.

Because I can only spend 183 days in the US in a year and between five months here and other visits I use it all up. Also it is too hot here in the summer. 120 F or 45 C is about the norm and that's a bit too warm, even though there is very little moisture in the air. There are also considerations with regards to Provincial Health Care coverage. I also have my house and garden in Nova Scotia to look after. Oh, and I almost forgot, Income Tax to pay !

Ahhh, I thought it may be something like that.... I passed through Phoenix in September a couple of years ago and it was still seriously hot then! I was only there for about 30 mins though!
