Another question about marriage

Hi

Do I need to extend my visa after I get married?

We are planning to getting married on 19 Jan 2003

Entered into Canada 21 July-----------valid till 21 Jan 2003

Multiple entry visa valid till Dec 2003.

Should we change our wedding date for it to be more convenient?

If I do need to extend my visa what do I say......I am getting married.

Thanks
Yogi

If you want to remain in Canada then yes - you must apply for the visa
extension.

Re: Another question about marriage

You need to keep your status legal at all times, being married is not an
immigration status you are either a visitor/worker/student/PR etc so unless
you are changing from visitor to one of the others you need to apply for an
extension about a month before your visitor visa status expires.
The best thing to say is you are marrying a Canadian Citizen and applying
for PR from within Canada. Ideally you would get married and apply for PR
then send in an extension application saying you actually are married to a
Canadian and are applying inland rather than going to, but it's up to you,
they should grant you the extension. Or if it is multiple entry and you can
visit the USa you could aways visit there and come back but thats more
risky.
