ALL WESTJET FLIGHTS TO CANADA CANCELLED FROM 22 MARCH
They are shutting down all international flights from 22 March for 30 days. Will COPR's be extended if the flight ban becomes protracted?

I would imagine someone at IRCC has posed this question (or not) to the bosses at IRCC. Now dependent when normal service resumes they will probably allow a certain grace period for expired COPR's or just reissue them with an extended date in the future. Nobody knows yet.

Governments all over the world are going to have to adress this situation, there will be thousands of people on time limited visas that just can't activate them because they can't visit the country.

re: ALL WESTJET FLIGHTS TO CANADA CANCELLED FROM 22 MARCH
It's a right situation to be in for any potential movers. (realise that its a step down from losing a loved one to Coronavirus).
We were in the awkward position whereby the other half has a temporary work permit that needs to be activated by August, and I have PR application in processing. We were discussing the fact that maybe she should fly over there sooner, even if it's only to kick her work permit off, in case there is a lock down in the coming months. This hand has now been forced somewhat as unless she catches a plane in the next 8 or so hours, she won't be making it across the border in time. But if international travel is allowed in say 6/8/12 weeks then I wonder how long the delay on my PR application will be given that the offices will be closed/working with reduced numbers. Must be awkward for those on temporary work permits or the like too, wanting to head home for a few weeks post ski season then come back for a summer season. Also can't help but feel a lot of airlines may go under/get bought out as part of the whole situation, ultimately lowering choices and driving prices up. |

Air Transat have also cancelled a hell of a lot of flights but have stopped short, at least for now, of going as far as WestJet.
Not boding well for our move over in mid-April. |

Not boding well for our move over in mid-April. Sales for departures until April 30 are suspended immediately from and to most destinations in Europe and the United States. Repatriation flights will still be operated during the next two weeks, in order to bring Transat customers back to their home country. So as to allow as many repatriations as possible, sales will, however, remain temporarily open in both directions between Montreal and Paris and Lisbon and between Toronto and London and Lisbon. A date for a full halt to operations will be announced soon. https://www.transat.com/en-CA/corpor...eleases/124302 |

Looks like they may end up suspending operations completely?
Given up our jobs, sold our house, living with in-laws because it was all supposed to be temporary. Now in total limbo. Flights can be changed free of charge at least, and Airbnb is refundable. |

Interestingly, British Airways is still flying it's Vancouver - Heathrow route that I still have booked flights for in May.
Can't imagine that is a very profitable route right now and I am very surprised they haven't cancelled it yet. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BAW84 https://flightaware.com/live/flight/BAW85 |

I wonder also if they’ll show leniency to PRs trying to return to Canada who now won’t meet the residency obligations? We have over two years before it affects us, but some may not be so lucky. |
