Parts of the Newfoundland are spectacular- like Norway; parts of Nova Scotia are pretty; PEI is flat and a little dull; New Brunswick is mediocre; Quebec is spectacular and that is it until you hit the Rockies and BC- yes all a little flat which some might find dull - but the Prairies are unique; well they are supposedly like Siberia which is why Dr Zhivago was filmed there.
IMHO the best bit of Canada sits up in the Yukon...
and I’ll agree once you've driven across the Prairies you can understand the similarity to Siberia...

Re: Of all countries, why move to Canada?
The weather is freezing much of the year, financial opportunities are fewer than found in the UK,and Canada is so spread out that many people compare living there to the old frontier days when north America was being settled.
There are obvious up sides to living in Canada beginning with the people who imo are about the most decent group of nationals of any nation. Also housing is very affordable, the landscape is beautiful, and the pace of life is far less stressful than most western countries.
But is moving to Canada worth starting all over in a foreign country not to mention giving up your well established way of life back home in the UK? Do you have any concerns that this move might be an extreme decision, when all you really need to do is to shake things up abit by moving to a different region of the UK? Why Canada?

One often has to leave one's country in order to find oneself....it's a cliche but it can be as simple as that.
So what are your motivations for leaving the USA? It's a pretty nice place too....

Re: Of all countries, why move to Canada?
My reasons for moving to Canada are not any of what you have described, we just fancy a change of scenery and Canada is the only country that we could emigrate too without any visa hassles (long story).
The cheaper housing, wide open space, not as many yobs on street corners also helped us make the decision but I am in no way unhappy with my life here in the UK. It's one of those 'now or never' decisions that you have to make before you get too old. Who knows, I may be back in a few years as the grass may not be as green as people make out but at least we tried...

Re: Of all countries, why move to Canada?
This question is like asking why red or why up - personal choice for those who care to try out new things. You could just as easily ask why Aus, USA, Spain, Dubai...
Why anywhere, why anything???
If we always stopped to ask why we should go somewhere else we'd never have got very far in the world, and we'd never have discovered chocolate (well unless you were the lucky people who lived in the same country as the yummy stuff)...
Sometimes it's just to peek over the fence
