The difference is whether the area in which one lives was affected. This applied in High River, in Calgary, in Medicine Hat, in Canmore, in Bragg Creek, in [insert any area affected];)

Now you're just being pedantic, and I feel, making light of those that lost so much and are still suffering all these months later. :(
I have personal knowledge of how some in High River were affected. My family and I aided those that were evacuated to Blackie. At no point have I suggested that no one has been affected, nor did I make light of anything. Perhaps you wish to say the same to the other poster that stated that they live in High River and were not affected. I accept that some are still affected, and will continue to fee the effects for some time. I invite you to show me where I said otherwise. |

Generally Calgary is nicer than Edmonton however like anywhere there are sought after more expensive areas and cheaper areas. In our area young children play out on the streets and local parks without any problems. Public school costs for supervision/transit are not significant. The flooding in Calgary directly affected a very small area so wouldn't be an issue generally - High River is a little different. I expect the vast majority of children who get top grades at school in Calgary are not in French immersion. French immersion is available for those who think it offers benefits but the vast majority do not appear to think it does.
We would need a 3 bed, average price ok area (just safe for the kids aged 10 and 6) I am definitely leaning towards calgary, looked in NE and NW areas. Also the education seems so much better than where we are now! The bus and lunch supervision will be a massive bill for us, but i suppose needs must, I just want more for the kids than they have at the moment!!:fingerscrossed: We have done the "hardest" move already, just one of those things that it was not the right place for us... |
