Alberta Driving

If you initially arrive in Alberta on a temporary work permit and apply for PR from within Alberta, how long can you drive on an international driving license?

I have found this, which might help. Not had a chance to look too closely, but the answer might well be in there somewhere...

International driver's permit, allows you to drive for a year, even here in Ontario, but you have to be armed with your original licence at all times too. Really worth the £12 from AA !

There are apparently two types though, so make sure you get the correct one from the AA.

Although if you don't pass the Alberta test you'll get hammered in insurance.

Get an Alberta license. It is easy to get and will be useful for many reasons as a Canadian issued ID.
