Re: Air Transat workers approve strike mandate
We are also booked to fly on August 8th with Air Transat...one way ticket as it's supposed to be for good
Thomas Cook says that in the event of a strike, they will do all the legwork to get us on an alternative flight...although we would have to bear the brunt of any extra charges.
Our travel insurance (HSBC) says they will pay out for delays due to strike and even compensate us if we decide to cancel and re-book but if Air Transat cancels the flight completely then we need to take it up with the Airline / Thomas Cook.
Slightly more helpful is that Thomas Cook have told us that if an airline does decide to strike, they are obliged to give 30 days notice before actually doing so...so in our case, if we can just get until Saturday and they haven't announced a strike, we will be okay!
Hope this is of some help...

Re: Air Transat union reaches agreement
Good news for anyone flying Air Transat in the near future.
MONTREAL — Air Transat and the union representing its 1,500 flight attendants said Saturday they have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract, ending the threat of strike.

Re: Air Transat workers approve strike mandate
Just six weeks after voting on a strike mandate, unionized flight attendants with Air Transat have voted to ratify a new contract.
On Wednesday evening, 65% of union members voted to approve the five-year deal, which was reached on July 8 and is retroactive to Nov. 1, 2010, just after the last contract expired.
Members turned down a previous contract offer on June 16 and voted 93% in favour of strike action.
