Advice for U.K. social work trained social worker living in Ontario
Hello guys. I need some solid advice please!
I am a social worker trained in the U.K. (BA Hons) with five years work experience in child protection.
I’ve relocated to Ontario as a permanent resident and I’m wondering if it is possible to apply for social work jobs without attending bridging programmes.
Understandably attending a bridging programme is a positive process as I would gain some insight on the context of social work practice in Canada however I need to know what my prospects are if I don’t attend one and just apply for jobs straight away.
Thanks 🤔

Do the job advertisements not state the requirements they require for any particular position?

Im afraid they do not. Apart from the usual Registeration requirements, work experience, level of education etc they are not specific about requirements for internationally trained workers.

A quick search of the forum will give you the info you need. Seems it's a regulated profession, so you will need to jump through some hoops. Here is one thread to get you started, there are lots of others too - Social work in Canada on a Working Holiday Visa
