adult/neonatal nurse

Hello,

Wondering if anyone can help.

I trained as an adult nurse but currently work as a neonatal nurse and have completed official training at uni for neonates as well as adults. Will this help towards eligibilty?

Thanks,
Nicole.

Hi, and welcome to BE.

Eligibility for what? Do you mean the visa side of things, or the getting licensed to work as a nurse in Canada side of things? If the former, then it won't make any difference, if the latter then I've no idea but I'm sure one of our lovely resident nurses will be along to help you later.

Best of luck with it.

It would be for the license side of things. I'm just busy going through the application now, I'm ready to send it off. Just checking as much as I can before doing so as it's obviously expensive.

Thank you.

Getting recognized as a nurse and obtaining your licence to work is a long and convoluted process. My friend has just completed the entire bridge course (10 months) and has just accepted two casual jobs as a nurse in order to get the 225 graduate hours required to obtain the full licence to work.

You can opt to take the entire course or take a SEC course to ascertain what modules you require to bridge to Canadian nursing.

Before that, you will have many hoops to jump through including having your credentials assessed, I suspect you will also need to attempt to get your PR sorted, as there a few opportunities to work in Canada on a temp working visa, companies are unwilling to sponsor applicants at the moment for nursing jobs, as there seems to be a glut of nurses and few opportunities because nurses are staying in employment.

She has been recognized for her seniority in UK and has started on the highest pay scale and time for vacation. $100k pa, so if money is your incentive, you have it.

It is a slog....be prepared.

Your nurse education, degree and experience will help you to obtain your PR.....hence my response - Yes!

Thank you. I'm off work this weekend so will read through the comments properly and see what's next. Guess I just have to take the plunge and send my application.
