Adopting as permanent resident

Hi. Been here nearly a year. Loving it, bought a house in Barrie, and are wanting to adopt. Do you have to be a citizen as it says on the Canada adopts website, or just a resident, as it says on the Ontario website. Anyone know...anyone adopted here.

Cheers.

Assuming adoption is provincial, then if it says PR on the Ontario site, you should probably proceed on that basis unless told otherwise. Advice from elsewhere in Canada won't help you.

At some stage you may wish to seek legal advice from a competent family law practitioner.

My two best friends adopted from Ontario when they were PR. They did get their citizenship sometime during the process but they definitely started when the were PR's

Good luck! We just moved to Orillia 3 weeks ago, just north of you! Loving it so far!

Thanks for the replies...orillia is nice. We love it up here too...just drove a short way up the 400 after visiting some friends in Essa...the southbound side was rammed with all torontonans heading back to their city lives. We couldn't help chuckling.
