Hi

Well we arrived here on Sunday...... Husband has started work and I'm in the Staybridge suites with no car and a one year old :)

Fingers crossed we have found a home in auburn bay but have to wait for the shipping etc..... Sure you've all heard it before.

If anyone would like to meet for a coffee or suggest anywhere I could take my daughter for her to meet some other babies that would be great, bearing in mind husband has the car.

Any suggestions would be great..... There's only So many times we can wander round the shops at the hotel, or trash the communal area of the hotel (my daughter not me :))

There are many Staybridge suites in Canada and Im sure areas called Auburn Bay. Can you narrow down your location so people who are interested in a coffee might take you up on the offer.

Welcome to Calgary !

I know the libraries have lots of events for babies/toddlers so may be worth checking out what's going on?

Great news... delighted you've arrived! Have you asked at the reception? I'm sure they are used to seeing totally unbalanced individuals on a regular basis, who's entire life is enveloped in those 4 suitcases which contain nothing that they REALLY need!

Thanks for this, it looks like there are a few things we can get involved in there. All full at the moment but I've put us on waiting lists!

Next time I wander past ( which won't be long) ill ask.

I do wonder if I'm mad...... I'm bored, at least poor Jess is easily amused for now....... Just be nice to get settled and get to know some people.

Also - there's a website called Meetup & they have a British Ex Pats group, I know they do coffee meetups at Starbucks and things like that - not been to any myself as I'm unfortunately at work :/ But may be a good way to get out and about?

and if you search in facebook for expats, british in calgary, alberta etc., you'll come up with various different groups that do meet ups and other social gatherings so you dont feel like ur in outer space :)

Yeah I joined a few groups on meetup before we got here, I'm keeping my eye out for any close by..... With only being here for 3 days I'm not overly confident about venturing too far from the hotel yet :)

I'm sure it'll be easier once we are settled into our house......but in the mean time hopefully something will come up.

Starbucks WTF are they trying to be snobs or what. Get into a Timmies sip on a double double and chow down on a ham & swiss cheese with honey mustard dressing and an apple fritter for dessert.

Thank you Jericho....... I'm sure it'll all be good once settled.

I've found a play barn round the corner when wandering so me & Jess will be in there at some point...... Hopefully meet people eventually.
