2012 - Travel Canada
I'm planning a trip to travel Canada this year - Hopefully leaving the UK around June time and spending no less than 6 months touring from east to west - starting out on the east coast, in French Canada.
I haven't yet nailed down specifics - It's a work-in-progress. This thread is a place for people whom are planning to (or already have) explore(d) Canada... to share ideas, information and adventures. I'm currently waiting on my IEC visa - it's been conditionally approved - now at the final (hopefully) hurdle, so painfully waiting to hear. I invite you all to share :D |

Allow me to share the news that French Canada is no longer in the east, an island to the east of French Canada has joined the Dominion.

Now the Capers do speak kind of funny but its definitely not French. Also isnt that island that just joined the Dominion a question on the citizenship test? The op must be in Canada at the moment as surely if in the UK everything would be west. |

or east, depends how long you want to take to get here;)
Come on you left that one open. |
Re: 2012 - Travel Canada
Have you thought about doing it West to East ? Direct flight to Vancouver then as you head East homewards its a shorter trip back to the UK.
Which ever way you choose you still will have to cross the barren wastelands of Canada that some posters on here refer to, the Prairie provinces. Plan wisely as Canada is huge and travel times are long contrary to what a map looks like. Oh and bring or have money available as Canada aint cheap. |

Presumably, if the budget allowed, one would fly from Toronto to Calgary. If driving, hitch-hiking or taking a bus, one would go through the States. Either way the long flat bit can be avoided.

North Dakota? It's a strange route that gets you to Calgary from Toronto via North Dakota. Is that about wanting to see the UP?

Nah it was more about the hitch hiking or going by bus or driving through the States that drew my attention to making that comment:)

Oh. Then much of Texas is also flat and uninspiring.
I agree its quicker and probably less expensive to fly TO to Calgary than drive or bus it or Amtrak it. |
