2 weeks to land & now really flapping
 

Two weeks today until we "LAND" as permanent residents (stopping for 2 weeks, permanent move in July). Can anyone advise us exactly what paperwork we will need to present, really do not want to get this wrong.

Also when we move permanently in July, do we need to bring: medical records, dental records?

We landed as Skilled Worker class this week and all we brought were:

1. the Immigration Papers issued by CIC
2. UK Passports with PR stamps
3. bank statements to prove we had funds (they did not ask to see them)

We were worried as we did not bring any additional passport pictures but we then re-read the letters and could not find that it stated anywhere that these were required (it might have said they were on an earlier letter).

If you are a different immigration class you might need more but I hope that helps.

One suggestion I would make is that at Vancouver there is two queues - one directs you to a counter for New Immigrants which we went to and met a very friendly chap who was full of the joys of life; he gives you various papers and then you have to join the (longer) queue for Immigration - if I had of known I would have suggested to my wife that she queues in that one whilst I went to the other one. We had two young uns with us so it was quite a task to keep them under control after they were confined to a plane seat for 10 hours!

For the permanently move I would get copies of medical records but would not bother with dental records unless you have a dental history that makes it worth while.

One thing: if you are only staying for two weeks you will not get your PR cards through. Have you made a plan for those?

It's also not strictly necessary to bring medical records, unless you have a significant medical history, but it makes it easier if you do bring vaccination records, especially for kids.

We asked our family doctor for confirmation of those, and they gave us a printed sheet for each kid. No charge.

Please try not be anxious as long as you have your COPR, your list of goods for customs, bank statement to show proof of funds and your passport you will be fine. I was so nervous when I landed three weeks ago, but it was a pleasant experience and you will experience such a lovely feeling once you get that stamp in your passport. Try not to worry too much, you will be fine:thumbsup:

We were told that they take 2 months so we are using our Sister-in-laws Canadian address as we are in temporary accomodation and likely to change with that period!

If you flapped your arms harder maybe it would take you less time than 2 weeks to fly over.;)
