2 questions about "application for permanent residence" form
Hi,
Just started filling out the forms for my boyfriend to sponsor me and I have two questions. On the form entitled "Application for permanent residence in canada" question 9 asks "your current marital status", which i would assume is "common-law" as we are applying under that catergory. But then it goes on to say "if you are married or in a common-law relationship, provide the date on which you were married or entered into a commonlaw relationship." Going on the basis of the definition of "common-law", we became common law partners at the end of the first (and only) year of living together. Which would be 8.06.09 - not very long ago. We have been together since 31.01.05 though. Which of these dates should I write? --------------------- My next question is about question 19 on the same form, "your identity number", does this mean National Insurance number or do I just write N/A? Hope this is clear enough to understand. Thank you for any help, Gillian :) |

Re: 2 questions about "application for permanent residence" form
I don't have an identity card so i shall just N/A it. Thankyou!
MR79, I'm not sure what guide you're referring to, the only one I have come across only seems to have detailed help for the sponsor themselves, not the person being sponsored. If I have missed something or there is another guide please direct me!! :D Thankyou!! |
Re: 2 questions about "application for permanent residence" form
Just found the guide specific for me. Thanks for your help.

Re: 2 questions about "application for permanent residence" form
Coo, yes the forms are very misleading and it almost seems they are trying to catch you out, stick to the guide and you will be ok, also please dont leave any questions blank, just enter none or n/a, leaving them blank will seem like you have missed a question out and they will send the forms back to you which will result in delays...........
